This week Batley faced Harrogate 5s, who are bottom of the league. Keen to get a good win here we pushed to attack from the off.

Capitalising on the pass and move tactics that have worked well this season we had Harrogate on the back foot and were commanding the play. Quickly we went 1-0 up with a great strike from Vicky at the top of the D and then 2-0 from a cross across goal deflected in by Kim. All this before half time.

In the second half we continued our strong attack, but Harrogate were making some counter plays with a key player in the middle of the pitch causing a headache for the midfield.

Working it round the pitch and using the wings, we attacked again Jo putting us 3-0 up from a scramble in front of the goal. Our 4th goal came from a penalty corner when Vicky lifted the ball over the keeper.

Harrogate we’re still making breaks and challenging with a couple of penalty corners, it was in one of these that a good clean strike to the right of the Helen found its way in to the back of the net, Harrogate had one back.

In the last few minutes of the game, we were back on the attack and Jo slotted a final goal past the keeper making the end result 5-1 to Batley.

Man of the match was wide open, finally being shared between Kim, Fretters & Newby.

Great game ladies! Next week we face Leeds Adel away at 4:30pm.
