A Feisty Game

BATLEY 3 - HORSFORTH 1
As I sat and watched the pre-match warm-ups Horsforth appeared to mean business today. We stand on equal points and we need this game today.We needed to be focused and on the ball from start to finish.
I need not to have worried, we were there from the whistle with Rach taking our first scalp just 6mins into the game. 5mins later Jo scored our 2nd goal, which has got to be the best goal scored this season. Janna followed with our 3rd goal shortly after.
Horsforth didn't know what had hit them, we owned that field during the fist half. Jenny and Mel came up with some superb defensive runs and I could do with some of what they had for breakfast this morning, both ladies were brilliant today.
Gail & Rach were as always on the ball and Gail’s ability to maneuver the ball as she does baffled the opposition as she ran rings around Horsforth mid field players.
Gemma and Sarah again invaluable in midfield and we must not underestimate the work horse mentality of these midfield players who organise the ball passing it to our attack or helping our defense, Well Done you two!
Vicky did a good job organising everyone as always. Ashleigh Danni and Crystal supported well as subs today.
The 2nd half seemed to turn tail when Horsforth appeared to be fighting back and Helen was put under pressure at times. Helen made some superb saves, but our defense was always there to support her.
We had a few short corners to contend with, but it was all in vain for Horsforth and they were showing signs of frustration as the umpire had to green card one of their players and she spent a couple of mins cooling down on the touch line.
Horsforth did manage to get 1 goal past our goal keeper which was immediately counteracted with another Batley goal, unfortunately this was disallowed (albeit both these goals a bit controversial) not to worry we had the game in the bag.
All our players were brilliant today we never got complacent, we kept our heads and we fought cleanly and fairly, we have secured our 2nd position and well deserved this season lets keep it up!
Gail was voted MOM and well deserved ,but once again anyone of you could have taken it today with the performance of each and everyone of you! WELL DONE !!!!
