A winning return for Batley after a short break

We played at home this week. After two weeks off, we were feeling a little less fit and ready for a good match. Turning out a full team (with subs!) against Bingley Bees.

Batley starting off looking dangerous, keeping the ball in the attacking half and making breaks again and again. It wasn't long before Janna found the net with a GOAL from a great pass in to the D to make it 1-0.

This was quickly followed up with a GOAL from Linda in a great clean strike from a short corner. Batley's confidence was soaring with a two goal lead.

Two weeks off did nothing for our regular forwards who seemed to forget how to score for most of the first half! Batley failed to take advantage of chance after chance! The half time whistle blew with Batley 2-0 up, but it could have been so much more! (Kim mentioned something about tripping over her own feet here...)

Bingley re-grouped and attacked hard at the beginning of the second half. Batley, with some confused defensive marking let Bingley take advantage and allowed Bingley to score, Batley new they needed to increase the lead and make this a convincing win after a couple of bad defeats.

A strong midfield performance kept channelling the ball up the pitch and through to the waiting forward line. Bingley had some strong experienced forwards but the Batley defence managed to keep them at bay and mark them well. Great marking throughout the game meant that Batley were intercepting ball after ball and stopping most of Bingleys free hits.

Finally our forwards made their mark, Jodi managed some success in the D and scored a GOAL for Batley making the score 3-1 the success for Batley continued and a GOAL from Sophie made it 4-1.

The game ended 4-1 to Batley, Man of the Match went to Fretters for her great performance in midfield.

Next week Batley are at home again taking on Thirsk.
