Week two of the season and Batley fielded a full team. We even had subs!!
This week Batley were meeting newly promoted Epworth who joined the 4th division after an unbeaten run in division 5.
With the bright sunshine potentially a problem, Vicky actually chose the right way to defend first! I know…shocking.
Batley started strong, some great passing between the forwards and midfield to get the ball through to scoring range regularly. Epworth weren’t phased though and looked dangerous on the break.
This first GOAL came from Kim after some great passing up the field. This was closely followed by a second GOAL from Jodi their battle for top scorer continues.
Batley made great use of the wings during the match and exploited the space there, getting the ball quickly through midfield and up to the forwards.
Epworth were still dangerous on the break and had some opportunities that gave Helen some work in goal. Batley were by no means outplaying the visitors and were working hard for every scoring opportunity.
The third and Fourth GOALS came from Jo and Sophie, putting Batley 4-0 up at half time.
Starting the second half with confidence, Batley immediately looked dangerous getting the ball up the pitch and in to scoring range. The fifth GOAL came early at the beginning of the second half scored by Kim after a great ball through from midfield.
Sophie took the sixth GOAL halfway through the second half, and Batley played through to the end looking strong throughout. Epworth didn’t make it easy, but a great defence kept a clean sheet for Batley.
MOM showed how well Batley played as a team with a 4-way tie between Kim, Jo, Linda and Hilary.
